Lurve-Loave-Luff

Let's get right to it, shall we?
Here's what made me feel all twitterpated, smile contagiously, giggle uncontrollably, etc.
Just a few things spotted and hearted on the Interwebs this week...
Hello // Absolutely smitten with the illustrations and calligraphy of Minna So.
Peanut Butter Cup Brownies // Peanut Butter + Chocolate = The most heavenly combination.
Crinkle Bag Vase // Simple & chic. Perhaps this is a sign I need to put my MoMA membership to work?!
Fox & Brie Bow Ties // Darling is an understatement.
A Sweatshirt // Impractical, but appropriate.
Hailey Too Flats // The lovely folks at Kate Spade may have misnamed this shoe. Ashley has a nice ring to it.
September Matchbook // The current issue is live and as lovely as ever.
The Elements of Style // Illustrated by Maira Kalman and a constant source of inspiration to me.
Failure is the best way to learn. // Another gem from Minna So.
Crystal Cluster Necklace // This beauty has left me breathless.
Ace up your sleeve. // Have you had enough of the letter A yet?
English First Course // Colorful and wonderfully retro!
Enjoy your weekend.

Need Read Greed

  • Need: A tweed jacket for fall. I'm in love the ones from Ralph Lauren in bright orange and purple. What would put me over the edge? Elbow patches.
  • Read: The Night Circus -- It is one of the best books I've read of late. Victorian London, star-crossed lovers and a magical circus? Divine!
  • Greed: Is it impossible to find comfortable and cute shoes that don't break the bank? I'm thinking so. My job has me walking all over the place, and even my comfiest flats aren't cutting it. Is it too much to ask for a shoe to look like Kate Spade, feel like Nike, and be priced like Target? I don't think so.

All Aboard the Crazy Train

Stripes // Polka Dots // Pretty Paper // Jeff Lewis // Intense Puppy Love // Mango Margaritas
It's Tuesday and the long weekend is over, but that's alright! You're invited to jump on the crazy train. Admission is free. The following scenarios are real, and the thoughts are my own. I hope today's post makes you feel a bit more sane. Enjoy!
Hey, it's okay...
  • To jot down the season premiere of "Flipping Out" in your planner. Reminder: That's tonight, peeps!
  • To have an imaginary conversation with your neighbor because you're so steamed he used all three of your trash cans, and the next pick-up day isn't until Thursday. Lucky for him, confrontation isn't really your thing, so you let it blow over.
  • To blast the music of Marching Mizzou in your car on game day. Go Tigers!
  • To plan this week's meals and purposefully include a grilled chicken recipe that requires tequila. Mango margaritas, anyone?!
  • To send snail mail in lieu of email to friends you haven't replied to in several weeks. Perhaps they'll be more forgiving when they receive some pretty paper and an envelope heavily adorned in Washi tape.
  • To whip out the WD-40, fix the sliding screen doors, and then walk around the house with a puffed chest, and a great sense of accomplishment. Anything else need fixing?
  • To be a devoted viewer of "Big Brother After Dark" on Showtime. After weeks of tuning in, you start to forget that you're not actually playing the game. Darn. This realization makes you feel like you got evicted.
  • To have a minor meltdown at Starbucks because you haven't had an Old-Fashioned Donut in almost three weeks. Pouting isn't just for children.
  • To prep your outfits for the work week and realize that your choices primarily consist of stripes and polka dots. It's impossible to have a bad day when you're wearing either of these prints.
  • To hug and squeeze your dog so tight you start to feel like Lennie from Of Mice and Men.
  • To tune into the Republican and Democratic National Conventions just so you can see Tom Brokaw's mug and listen to the sounds of his soothing voice. I love that man!
  • To dance around the house while you're cleaning and pretend you're in some viral "Call Me Maybe" video.

It's clear I've lost my marbles. Now kindly exit this post.
Such silliness can be attributed to excess sun exposure, fresh air, and caffeine.

Life's Little Details

"The details are not the details. They make the design." -- Charles Eames
Happy Labor Day! I hope you're enjoying the long weekend. Have you done anything terribly fun or exciting?! Do tell. I'm sure the last thing you plan to do is stay cooped up inside on this glorious holiday and read blogs, but in case there are some of you out there who prefer to relax and unwind online (guilty), here's a simple Instagram update -- they're the details that make this life a whole lot sweeter.
