Kinship and connection, love and affection.

Sorry for the brief post, but I'm spending these final few hours with my sister and her boyfriend before they depart this evening. It's been a great two weeks, and I'm very grateful to have had their company. It was delightful to have a reason to trek, schlep, tote, dote, laugh, and cook together. The dogs and I are going to miss them dearly! The only thing that keeps me from getting too emotional is that I know I'll see her again in a few weeks when we reunite with our parents. For now, I'll leave you with some lovely quotes about sisters, because I think mine is pretty fabulous! If you have a sister this special, I know you'll understand -- sisterhood is a powerful thing.
A sister can be seen as someone who is both ourselves and very much not ourselves - a special kind of double. - Toni Morrison
Sisters function as safety nets in a chaotic world simply by being there for each other. - Carol Saline
The best thing about having a sister was that I always had a friend. - Cali Rae Turner
Of two sisters one is always the watcher, one the dancer. - Louise Gl├╝ck
Aub, thank you so much for loving me unconditionally. You graciously accept me for the peculiar and somewhat overbearing older sister that I can be. I guess some things never change:) Ha ha! You're one lucky gal...

Always my sister, always my friend.

Dizzy With Delight

Did you enjoy your holiday weekend? I sure did, but I can't believe how the time has flown by. I feel very blessed to have had the company of my sister and her boyfriend these past two weeks. They've kept me busy, which has kept my mind off of Flyboy as much as possible. Not that I don't love to think about him, but it made being separated a lot easier. I definitely had my weaker moments, but I guess that's to be expected. Overall, this first holiday apart was a great success, mostly because of my visitors. Unfortunately, they leave this Wednesday, so we only have a few more days left together. I know I promised creative Christmas-related posts last week, but they may have to wait until later this week. Stay tuned. Until then, take a look at what we've been up to according to Instagram...

With excessive eating, glittery gold nail polish, and a whopping big dose of Vitamin D, I think it's safe to say we've had a grand time! I'd be happy to stick my toes in the sand with this duo any day. I'll be sad to see them leave, but excited to prepare for my trip to the Mainland to visit my parents in December. I love having something to look forward to!

Be sure to check One Fine Day tomorrow for my complete list of holiday stationery favorites! Psst! I ordered our Christmas cards last week, so they should be here any day now. Nothing makes me more giddy than filling out Christmas cards. Oops, there I go rambling again. I just feel like we need to catch up BIG time. I'll stop yapping for now and get the car loaded with beach gear. In the meantime, leave me a comment or two and let me know what you've been up to lately. I've missed you!

Words To Live By

Happy Friday! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Are you sick of leftovers yet? Ha ha! Unfortunately, our fridge is chock full of food, and there are only three of us to chip away at what's left. We plan on spending the weekend outdoors -- swimming, hiking, etc. Our Turkey Day spread was pretty gluttonous for such a small group of people. That's how it's supposed to be, right? It looks like we'll have to hike Koko Head a few times in order to make up for the atrocious, but blissful, amount we've been eating. What are your weekend plans? Will you be partaking in any Black Friday madness? I usually try to steer clear from the shopping insanity. I prefer Cyber Monday, where I can sit in my pajamas and shop from home. Cue the Christmas tunes (insert She & Him holiday album), it's time for me to start drafting my list of presents to purchase. Oh, what fun!

Now, while I get out my notepad and paper to start brainstorming gift ideas, I'll leave you with a delightful quote and a few charming images...
Prepare yourself for a few weeks of gift guides galore, copious Christmas cards, a slew of 2012 calendars, a bounty of holiday decor ideas, wrapping mania, etc. It's about to get Christmas cray cray around here! Get excited.

P.S. Not sure what to do with those pesky leftovers? Check out some of these recipes.

Jive Turkey

Tomorrow's the big day! Are you pumped? Woo hoo! Stressed? No way! Have you prepped? Our turkey is brining in a large cooler, and our pie has been baked. The sweet scent of cinnamon, apples, and salted caramel fill the air. Is it time to eat yet? The residents and guests of Lil' Puna are ready to stuff ourselves into a food-induced coma. What about you? What are you most excited about this Thanksgiving? Do you have any fun traditions? Do tell.
one // A cute apron should help do the trick.

two // Fun and festive table top accessories.

three // Holy cuteness and carb overload!

four // I'll take one of each, please!

five // A chance to unwind and make memories.

six // Give Thanks.

In the spirit of this lovely holiday, I thought I'd remind you that each day I'm grateful for the opportunity to interact with readers by sharing memories, funny stories, and fabulous finds. Thanks for your continued support and encouragement. I hope you have a wonderful holiday that's shared with family and friends!

I gave in and ordered the Gold-Oriented Flats from ModCloth last week.
