Champagne Taste. Beer Budget.

"You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling!"
Sometimes it's fun to swoon over something incredibly ridiculous—like this pair of Miu Miu Embellished Sandals. With a steep price tag of almost $700 (someone needs to check my temperature), can you really blame a girl for pinning and daydreaming? I'm sure it was the lovely shade of chartreuse and sparkling crystals that had me at hello.

A Colorful Expression

"I don't start with a color order, but find the colors as I go." — Helen Frankenthaler
I delight in tinkering with images and words, as is evident in today's post. I began compiling artwork and photos with vivid colors and subtle texture. They're inspirational tidbits that had my heart racing—love at first sight! Coincidentally, they all looked so good together and made me incredibly happy. I started shifting pieces of the puzzle around, and it just kind of worked. Here's my attempt at brightening your Tuesday and working through the creative process simultaneously. I've found that some days color best expresses and articulates what words cannot.

A Blair Ritchey Giveaway

Win this Blair Ritchey Mini Lulu Foldover in Emerald!
When Blair emailed me with the idea of a possible giveaway, I squealed just a tad. In fact, I'm sure you could probably hear my excitement all the way from the tiptop of Lil' Puna. I did a jovial jig and replied immediately with an emphatic "YES!" How could I ever turn down such a fabulous offer? And since I knew I was quickly approaching 200 Google Followers (it's the little things), I figured that would be the perfect time to treat my readers to this special surprise. Now, on to the details...

One lucky reader will win a suede Mini Lulu Foldover in emerald. Isn't Blair generous? This amazing clutch comes in the most gorgeous shade of emerald. Can you say Pantone's Color of the Year 2013?! The Mini Lulu is a real gem—it's perfect to carry on its own or stored as an organizational piece within another bag.

But before I explain the various ways in which you can enter to win, the giveaway entrants should heed caution: this clutch is highly coveted. If the emerald Lulu becomes yours, you should be prepared to get stopped whenever you've got your Blair Ritchey clutch in tow. I wish I had a dollar for every time someone asked me where I got that beautiful bag. I think you'll agree, that's a "problem" I can definitely live with.

You have a few different options...
  • Entry 1.  Be (or become) a follower of One Fine Day and leave a comment below. Here are a few ways to follow—get updates via @onefineA on Twitter, Instagram, join via Google Friend Connect (look to your right), and Bloglovin.

Complete all three entries, and you'll be entered three times. Yahoo! Each entry counts as one separate entry! The winner will be announced Thursday, February 28, 2013. Be sure to check and see if you're the lucky one. Looking for an in to win? Need Read Greed

  • NeedI got this in my first Birchbox, and I've been hooked ever since. I feel like I just spent a day at the spa after using it.  I never splurge on pricey beauty products, but I can no longer live without it! If you're lucky, T.J. Maxx occasionally gets it in stock!
  • ReadParts of this book are hard to read, but it's hands down the best book I've read in years. I come from a large military family like Ashley and this is the kind of story that we talk about. It's about an Olympic runner turned WWII pilot and his fight for survival. It leaves you with an amazing appreciation for the human spirit.
  • GreedThey are hot pink and fabulous! I have no idea how I would ever be able to justify needing these, but I'm pretty sure I would strut my stuff everywhere if I had these beauties. I mean, how much more fun would grocery shopping be with these on?!
Thanks for sharing, Madeleine! Your selections are stellar.
That book sounds a-mazing! I've never been big on heels, but I'd totally make an exception for these showstoppers.

Have a swell Wednesday!

A Sweet Escape

It's the Tuesday after a three-day weekend. Oy! An "escape" sounds slightly silly and gluttonous since the work week is just beginning, but the discovery of this mid-century sofa has me daydreaming. Alright, I'll share if you insist...

I imagine we'd spend the day together on this colorful couch. Get comfortable, we'll be here for awhile. Our chatter would mimic that of Rory and Lorelei Gilmore. The range of topic matters would bounce around back and forth like a perky ping-pong ball. And since we're the kind of gals who like to multitask, we would definitely need a handful of glossies and coffee table books to thumb through. The literature would also help jog our memory and facilitate discussion—as if we really need help! On the other hand, it's hard to remember exactly EVERYTHING I'd intended to discuss with you. It's just nice to talk about this stuff with someone that really gets me. Great company and this charming sofa call for a cozy ambience, so I'll light a candle that smells so good we can practically hear Martyn Lawrence-Bullard say it's delicious. Fresh flowers are necessary. How often do we get to spend the day together? This sweet escape calls for warm chocolate chip cookies—dunking in milk is optional, but highly encouraged.
P.S. A grammar lesson about ambience for those of you who get turned on by the proper use of a semicolon.

Life's Little Details

Here's a glimpse of what's been going on around Lil' Puna lately...
I adore this beautiful book! // Hello Sunshine Print via Rifle Paper // Leftover Macarons // I could wear this outfit every day.
A pretty stack on my desk. // The return of my fave skirt! // Adding a little spring to my step. // My sparkly Bando heart
Someone is starting to like the camera. // Outfit planning on a Sunday night. // New books. // Some nights, blogging calls for beer.
Life is rough around Lil' Puna. // Lately, the breeze has been divine. // A stack of snail mail. // In line at the Post Office.
Happy Monday, sunshine! I hope you had a swell weekend. I honestly don't know where the past two days went, but I'm hoping for a Monday spent seaside. I have the day off, and I plan on making the most of it! My fingers are crossed the weather will be sunny; I could use a dose of Vitamin D. After a GSD-filled Sunday, I think I deserve it!

Enough about me, what made your weekend special? Cheers to a snazzy week ahead!

Lurve Loave Luff

Let's get right to it, shall we?
Here's what made me feel all twitterpated, smile contagiously, giggle uncontrollably, etc.
  • Spring Dress by Tastes Orangey: I know I've featured this particular artist a few times, but I'm absolutely smitten. I've got a few prints in my Etsy cart. I think it's finally time I pull the trigger and add one to my gallery wall. This one could be a winner!
  •  Kissy Face Umbrella: There are just NO words to describe the utter cuteness of this umbrella.
  • Creativity: This sunny print caught my eye. It would serve as a perfect reminder!
  • "You are most definitely enough.": I spent a good amount of time this week on the Positive Inking Tumblr. You MUST check it out!
  • Cup of Joe: Flyboy was home for a hot second, then he up and left me again. What up with that? We've had a few really early mornings, so coffee has been a must. I think this adorable illustration sums it up quite perfectly.
  • "A" Typeface via Alvin Diec: I'm a sucker for a good monogram and this letter A is close to perfection.
  • Bando Sequin Heart: This pin brings me so much joy. It's a great reminder to sparkle. Always.
  • Fireworks Print via Ashley Goldberg: This is what I feel inside (the colors are exact).
  • Caldrea Hand Balm: The Palmarosa Wild Mint is money, my friends!
  • Bill Cunningham Tee: Here's to hoping this precious t-shirt will be back in stock and soon. Pretty please!
  • Just My Type: Got this as a Valentine's Day gift from my parents, and I can't wait to dive.
  • Bijoux Bow Flats: Swooning over these ballet flats. They're show-stoppers!
  • Mini Lulu in Emerald: I can't stop carrying this Blair Ritchey beauty around with me. The size is spot on and the color is Pantone perfection. I'm in love, I'm in love, and I don't care who knows it!!!
  • Congrats Card: This week, I turned around and a handful of friends announced that they're preggo. I probably should keep of few of these adorable cards handy. I'm so excited!
  • Dog Collars by Handmade Green: I stumbled upon these colorful dog collars this week, and I'm thinking it's time I show Tripp and Beez some love. I would naturally choose the green for Beesly, but we'd have to add a girly touch with a pink flower pin—just in case anyone forgets that she's MY little lady. For Tripp, I'm think something presidential looking like this striped one. It's time that he sports something a bit more sophisticated. I think he's over his seersucker collar.
  • Striped Throw: I can't get enough of CB2 these days. They've got some great pieces that are affordable and fun. This blanket is no exception.
Have a wonderful weekend! Can't wait to catch up on Monday.

Love This Life

Get out the glitter and hop on a unicorn, because today's post is all about hearts and warm and fuzzies. Happy Valentine's Day! I truly believe that February 14th is a marvelous reminder to love your life. Every minute of it. Take a moment today to acknowledge the love you give and get from family and friends. Become absolutely smitten with the life you've been given and grateful for daily blessings. Ideally, every day should be treated in such a manner, but it's easy to let the drab details of everyday life cloud our vision. Over the past week, I've had a few "ah-ha" moments that made it more apparent than ever that this one life is short, so it's essential to celebrate the everyday. Use today to reflect on the good. Delight in the mundane like it's your job. In the name of love, go on and cut your sandwich into a cheesy heart shape and drape yourself in punchy pops of pink and red. Carpe the heck out of the diem!

P.S. The top left photo is one of my all-time favorites; I stare at it a lot whenever Flyboy is away. This picture is the best way to describe the love he gives me. It's quite clear that I'm smothered with adoration. I'm one lucky gal!

Need Read Greed

A few weeks ago I discussed the perks of blogging, with the gift of friendship being one of them. Shortly after Blog Week, I got an email from Erika Sartain of Erika's Tea Cup. She was incredibly kind and personable. As we started to exchange emails, it felt quite natural—as though I was writing to a dear friend. Erika is a fellow military spouse, so we began discussing the nuances of this lifestyle, among a handful of other random topics. I feel incredibly blessed to have connected with her. I just had to ask her to be a part of this series, because I know you'll adore her!

  • NeedThis part makes me smile and think of my mom, who is so good about knowing the difference between a want and a need. I must be missing that gene, because I need some of these cheery dish towels.  My husband, like Ashley's, is in the military and we received a few as a wedding gift to start a collection for each place we move to or visit. Isn't that a fun idea? They really brighten up the kitchen, and I'd love to add one for my home state, California. I will especially need it because…
  • Read…I'm bound to create a big mess while reading Dinner: A Love Story. My cooking chops could use some help because my husband usually takes the cake in the kitchen (where I obviously help by bringing the corny to the table). Last year on Valentine's Day he treated me to the most incredible homemade beef rib tacos, and I'd love to use this book to return the favor. It doesn't hurt that it's also a great story and blog!
  • GreedValentine's Day aside, I'm finally ready to jump on the chambray train with this shirt as my ticket to ride- yeah Beatles! The "circle print" is a cute variation on two of my favorite words, polka and dot, but the steep price makes my wallet beg for mercy. Then again, wouldn't it make a great Valentine's Day gift? Hint hint…

Thanks for sharing, Erika! I'm loving the dish towel idea, and that chambray popover is polka-dot perfection.

Have a swell Wednesday!

A Cozy Kitchen

I'm incredibly smitten with this kitchen, so naturally I was inclined to recreate my own version.

Now, I'm left imagining what I'd whip up in this serene little space. There's nothing like a little lovin' from the oven.

Lurve Loave Luff

Let's get right to it, shall we?
Here's what made me feel all twitterpated, smile contagiously, giggle uncontrollably, etc.
  • Seeing Spots: I'm loving the February graphics on Chance's website. These dots are imperfectly perfect.
  • Liberty-Collar Merino Striped Sweater: This may have to be my next J.Crew purchase. It's adorable!
  • Paris Street Style: Nothing but cover love for this Parisian chic book. I can't wait until it's released!
  • Stamps by Grace Lee: This whimsical illustration got me in the mood to fill out Valentine's Day cards.
  • Say Yes: Sometimes I think I stumble upon the right quote at exactly the appropriate time. I think I must have become comfortable with my routine because lately there's been a lot of things up in the air. Not to be all RHOBH cryptic on  you, but there's a bunch of unknowns right now. It leaves me feeling excited and uneasy at the same time. I'll share the specifics in due time. For now, I'm going to focus on the wise words of Tina Fey and this lovely illustration by Ann Shen.
  • Salted Caramel Brownies: These look a-mazing, and the heart shape totally sweetens the deal.
  • Style & Grace: Can we just stop and discuss how wonderful this portrait of Grace Coddington is?
  • Oh yeah, we live in Hawaii...: I'm so incredibly excited to announce Flyboy's return. The icing on the cake? I have the whole weekend off, and I couldn't be more excited. I planned to not plan, but that sounds kind of risky. I actually have a few funtivities on the unofficial weekend itinerary. As mentioned on The Mindy Project, "You have to have an itinerary. That's how you maximize fun time per hour." This weekend, we'll probably go to the beach at least once. There's a new flower store downtown I'd like to visit. I think it's called Paiko and they're supposed to have all sorts of cool succulents and whatnot. There's been talk about seeing Top Gun in 3-D. Don't judge. How often do you get to experience a bond like Maverick and Goose's in Imax? Naturally, we'll have to bring our aviators to wear on top of the 3-D glasses. It just seems appropriate.
  • Superga Sneakers: This must be love.
  • Navy Dot Leather Baggu: Okay, I lied. I actually think this must be love. I checked my emails on Thursday morning like I always do. My eyes were still kind of tired, but I continued to thumb through my inbox. I opened up an email from Baggu and suddenly my baby blues were feeling awfully perky and attentive. It's like they created this bag in honor of me. I just know it.
  • Matchbook Magazine: Did you see the February issue? I read it while I was getting my roots covered on Monday, and I about flew out of my seat. A two-page spread devoted to pom-poms? Get outta town! Nate Berkus. Hush! Alexandra Thompson's BERNESE MOUNTAIN DOG. Did we just become best friends?
  •  The Eye Has to Travel: The Diana Vreeland documentary is on DVD. Why don't you... watch it?!
  • Make It Happen: Take  your pleasure seriously and make your passion happen. This free desktop download by Breanna Rose serves as the perfect reminder.
  • Feeling Crafty: How about a wall of love? This is one precious project.
  • Paperman: Got six minutes? Then you'll want to watch this adorable short Disney film. It's so cute, I'm hoping it snags an Oscar.
Have a swell weekend.
