LIFE'S LITTLE DETAILS

"THE DETAILS ARE NOT THE DETAILS. THEY MAKE THE DESIGN." — CHARLES EAMES

Happy Thursday, m' dears! It's been awhile since I've dumped a load of Delaware deetz on the blog. Then again, with alliteration like that, it's probably for the best. Ha Ha! The photos shared in today's post are a handful of my favorites from the past six months—bright spots amid the pandemic mundane. Sure there's been Tik-Tok coffee, patches of grey hair, and loaves of banana bread (that feels like FOREVER ago), but there's also been toads, tattoos, 350 Peloton rides (which makes me really proud!), plot twists in Flyboy's future employment (spoiler alert: we're not getting out of the USAF as we'd intended...yet), an impromptu trip to meet darling Poppy in August, and Max starting Kindergarten. If you follow along on Instagram, you've more than likely seen most of these images; however, I decided there should be a place for them to live here as well. This year has been a doozy for a variety of reasons, but it deserves to be documented. The imperfectly perfect resides here, just as it always has. With the bad comes the good, but I must say my perspectacles are looking rather optimistic today. You see, it's my 35th birthday, and if you told me six months ago that this dumpster fire of a year would result in me getting to share the day surrounded by all of my favorite people, I probably would have rolled my eyes and responded with a dismissive "Fat chance!" Because that's how a lot of this year has felt, but not today. Nope. My sister, her boyfriend, and my niece are on their way to D.C. for an extended weekend at my parents' house. Squee! Together we'll watch Flyboy and his bestie run the Marine Corps Marathon virtually, eat lots of good food and drink festive libations, watch the new version of The Witches on HBO Max (the original was our fave!), and squeeze in lots of cuddles with Poppy. So many of our plans (just like the rest of you) haven't amounted to much this year, so I'm beyond grateful for the opportunity to safely come together and get a little quality time with the ones I love. In a time as brutiful as 2020, we're all looking for ways to adapt to this new normal and to do so responsibly, but our vision and priorities couldn't be clearer. There's so much to be thankful for when we slow down and focus on the little moments that matter. It's always better when we're together.

Enough about me, how the heck are YOU? Have you had a chance to hug your loved ones yet?
