THURSDAY'S THOUGHTS

SHH I'M A MERMAID VIA COCORRINA

THINKING ABOUT: There's nothing quite as humbling as parenthood. Just when you pat yourself on the back for conquering one challenge, you're slapped in the face with another. After weeks of struggling with diaper changes, we bought Max his very own potty and decided to hand over some of the control to our little guy. Now before any of you start to think we're crazy enough to dive into potty training right now, we're not. This is simply our way of tricking him into thinking that he's making decisions for himself. As a fellow control freak, we thought this would make Mr. Independent believe he's in charge. For an entire day this new process of changing his diaper next to his little potty was a game changer. He's totally jazzed about his new Potty book, the idea of wearing Pull-Ups, and sitting on his plastic throne. I was elated to not get hit in the face and have my hair grabbed while changing this bucking boy's drawers. Our "new normal" seemed picturesque until his mother (moi) let him eat one too many blueberries (lunch AND dinner) and now he has the worst diaper rash ever. Ugh! Now we're back to fighting diaper changes with one VERY tenacious tot and an even more stubborn mother. This isn't the #gameofthrones I had in mind when the potty arrived earlier this week...

THANKFUL FOR: Flyboy is driving his friend to the airport in San Antonio on Saturday and I've given him strict instructions to bring home ALL the peonies he can find at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. Lucky for me he happily obliged to wipe the entire city clean. What a catch! This basic beyotch (pardon my French) has gone far too long without these beautimous blooms in her presence. If all goes as planned, I will spend this weekend in the company of my best guys, precious pooches, and favorite flowers. Yaaaaaaaaaas!

EATING: About three weeks ago, I began starting my day with a drink that promises to wake you up and clean you out—and boy does it ever! Are any of you familiar with the Tone It Up program? If so, I'm talking about Karena and Katrina's Bombshell Spell. For years I've wanted to find new ways to incorporate apple cider vinegar into my diet (so many benefits!), but I have the hardest time drinking it in the morning mixed with water. I've tried off and on, but the habit never really stuck. Thankfully, the TIU elixir is equal parts tasty and simple to whip up after I've completed my morning workout. I highly recommend it!

Bombshell Spell:
1 Tbsp. Apple Cider Vinegar (Raw and Unfiltered)
1/2 Cup Fresh Pineapple Juice
1 Tbsp. Honey
1 Tbsp. Fresh Lime Juice

WATCHING: Occasionally Flyboy will humor me by indulging in a little Bravo together. On Monday night we were watching Real Housewives of Dallas when the sweetest Amazon Prime commercial came on. Have you seen the one with the Gold Retriever and the lion headdress (link here)? Gulp. You guys, tears began squirting from my eyeballs and I immediately messaged my mom and sister with a link to the ad. Seconds later I found Tripp in my bathroom and smothered him with a big hug, dog bones, and sentimental petting. If you're up for viewing something feel good and sappy (Who isn't?!), then please watch it and ASAP!

LISTENING TO: While playing a few of Max's favorite Sesame Street songs one rainy morning, curiosity got the best of me and I clicked on the Elmo Slide. "This sounds fun. Max will LOVE it!" Insert face palm here. Several weeks have passed since I stumbled upon this Elmo ear worm and now Flyboy and I can't seem to get the jingle out of our head. Just when one of us forgets it, the other begins singing the tune. Again. Do you want to know what's really messed up? Max isn't that entertained with the song anyway. Sigh.

READING: I won't bore you with any more potty or parenting books—at least for today! Instead, I thought I'd whip out my phone and share the riveting articles currently open on my browser. This should give you a good idea of how interesting life is at the moment...

LOVING: With all of the promotions at J.Crew lately, I took a chance on this Striped Racerback Tank Dress and I'm absolutely in love with it! Based on similar pieces from past summers at J.Crew, I was prepared to be disappointed with the cotton number and return it upon trying it on. Much to my surprise I fell for it and now I can't help but eye it in different colors. Ruh-roh! It's a comfortable and easy everyday dress that can be dressed up or down depending on the day's events—an absolute mom-semble MUST!

Enough about me. How are you feeling today? What are you up to? Thanks for stopping by!!
