THURSDAY'S THOUGHTS

THINKING ABOUT: Have you heard of Aaptiv? Has anyone tried the on-demand audio fitness app? My interest is piqued and I think I might experiment with the free trial next week. I typically stick with the same spinning workout (because fish sticks on Friday...), but something about this setup seems like it could be fun and convenient. I know I could especially benefit from the "guidance" of a trainer to help walk me through new workout routines. The fact that it's synced to "the perfect playlist" can't hurt either.

THANKFUL FOR: Max and I are headed to visit my parents next month. Squee! The trip honestly couldn't come at a better time. I'm SO ready to get outta Dodge and spend some quality time with my mom and dad. It's been far too long since we saw them in November.

WATCHING: I was texting my mom and sister this week about Vanderpump Rules. Because, priorities. We decided the moment Tom Sandoval (dressed in drag, face full of makeup) dramatically kicks in the door only to find Tom Schwartz, who he likened to a battered wife, on the toilet happily texting and waving at his pals as one of our top five favorite Bravo moments (see gif here). Ever. Please tell me you watched that episode and had to rewind the scene a few times to get the giggles out like I did. HYSTERICAL!

EATING: If I prepare a new recipe for dinner and it's really good, Flyboy inevitably asks the following question: "Is this from that cookbook you mentioned?" Ha Ha! Yep, I'm still REALLY into the recipes featured in SkinnyTaste Fast and Slow. Slowly but surely, we're making our way through the book repeating favorites and dabbling with new recipes. This week we tried the Hamburger Stroganoff (can't find a link; may be exclusive to the book) and Buffalo Chicken Lettuce Wraps upon my friend Jen's recommendation. As expected, both meals were predictably tasty and totally worth recreating again. Who would be opposed to a tasty trend like this?

LISTENING TO: After gallivanting around Swell Rio sans Maxwell—my goal was to complete three days at daycare in an effort to switch it up for both of us—I sat down to write today's post and my phone rang. It was the CDC. Apparently Max refused to eat any food at lunch and it was a courtesy call to inform me of his refusal. Insert deep sigh here. Over the course of 19 hours, the caregivers were on to my son and his stubborn ways. Grrrrrrrreat! I explained he's very strong-willed and ignoring the behavior (as long as he's not causing a disturbance or any harm) is best. Sigh. Undecided as to what I should do in this scenario, I spent the better part of the lunch hour hemming and hawing over whether I needed to pick up my child or leave him there to complete that day as planned. As most of you are aware, very little is easy with this kid. The constant power struggle has been an issue since he was a newborn. In that moment, I didn't want to cry because I felt bad for my disgruntled child. No, I wanted to cringe instead because I felt so terrible and embarrassed that other people were having to deal with him and his wily ways. Ugh! In the end, I knew if I went and got him that he'd gain the control he so desperately seeks, so I waited it out and picked him up later as planned. Upon my arrival, I tried to make as little eye contact as possible with the employees, grab my son, and exit quickly. We peeled out of the parking lot and I heard nothing but Jay-Z's On To The Next One playing in my head—because that's what a typical day feels like with a child like Max.

READING: On Tuesday afternoon I checked the mail and found a copy of Where The Wild Moms Are. I had NO clue this book even existed, but my parents saw it at The Paper Source recently and they felt like I needed a copy of my own. You guys, it's a hoot!

LOVING: I tried Glossier's Cloud Paint this weekend and I'm totally obsessed with Dusk. I was hesitant to try the shade because the swatch looks kind of muddy, but after reading reviews and trying it myself, I'm a believer. If you're interested in the cream blush, check out Cindy's blog for an in-depth review and a few application tips. I found her latest post to be super helpful!

Enough about me. How are you feeling today? What are you up to? Thanks for stopping by!!
