LIFE'S LITTLE DETAILS

"THE DETAILS ARE NOT THE DETAILS. THEY MAKE THE DESIGN." — CHARLES EAMES

Happy Wednesday, m' dears! We're anxiously waiting to hear where and when we'll be moving next (hopefully this week!!), and as a result I'm having a hard time thinking of anything else. Sigh. I find myself looking at the screen often to see if Flyboy has messaged me with any info and I end up in a full-blown sprint every time my phone buzzes or rings (damn you, telemarketers!). Part of me is okay with not knowing because seasons of change and the closing of another chapter can be daunting—just as they are exciting. It's not that I want to stay in Swell Rio forever (Ha! No thanks!), but there's something comforting that comes with the expected. I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for the change that's coming, but that's always been easier said than done for yours truly.

Before I drone on any more than I already have, let's jump straight to the details...
  • Just when I think Max couldn't be any more stubborn, I find that I'm wrong. Again. He's learning to test me in ways I didn't realize was possible. Seriously, HOW?? He's TWO! Naturally, any threat I make right now I have to follow through. I'll save specifics about our trip to the police station last Friday for tomorrow's post, but let's just say it wasn't pretty.
  • Two weeks ago, we visited San Antonio to get the navigation/sound system in our wagon updated (it wouldn't even turn on). After a long stretch of traveling, strapping Max into his car seat AGAIN was less than ideal, but it was a great opportunity to stock up on one last batch of Peonies and a few Hydrangea stems. Also GIN. We were without gin. Gulp!
  • With a little coaching from Flyboy, Max has started to pose for the camera (mood dependent).  He looked so cute in his seersucker shorts last week, so I asked him to stop and flash his toothy grin. HOORAY for bribes and smiling on command!!! Later that morning while scrolling through my camera roll, I could see the kid has adopted his dad's cheesing smirk (THE very best!!) and my awkard smile (oh-so unfortunate). Refer to Exhibit A above for further evidence.
  • You guys!! Last week ended with a real bang! Yes, Max had the opportunity to suit up and take a spin around the T-6 simulator with his dad. In the past, our wily tot had no idea what was going on whenever we'd visit with family members, but now that he's older and very detail-oriented, we figured he would really eat it up. The whole ordeal was adorably sweet. It was 30 minutes of pure bliss and Max can't stop talking about that one time he got to "fly daddy's plane."

Alright, enough from me. How's your week shaping up?! Anything exciting on the horizon??
