Home Is Where the Art Is

Last week, my mom and I were on the phone chatting about art. She's currently searching for the perfect pieces to complement and finish her new and improved bedroom. We started talking about our favorite artists when she posed the question, "What artists would you feature on your dream gallery wall?" We both started to throw down names of artists and titles of beloved artwork. I was reminded again how similar we are. The excitement level heightened to extreme giddiness. It was one of those conversations where you hang up the phone with a ginormous smile on your face -- it's the kind of chat you wish could last forever!

Our discussion got me thinking. Like a great piece of art, a gallery wall is a work in progress. Given the time and money to acquire the prints and have each piece beautifully framed, here are the pieces I've chosen for my dream gallery wall. Enjoy!
Yves Klein, Helen Frankenthaler, Chuck Close, Cy Twombly

Robert Motherwell, Richard Serra, Sal Veder, Frank Gehry, Caitlin McGauley

Mark Rothko, Wayne Thiebaud, Robert Rauschenberg, Paulina Reyes, Charles & Ray Eames

Marcel Duchamp, Henri Matisse, Paul Rand

Meret Oppenheim, Hugo Ball, Vincent van Gogh, Jasper Johns, Alex Katz, Henri Matisse

Josef Albers, Christo and Jeanne-Claude, Willem de Kooning, Alex Katz, Clyfford Still

Who's your favorite artist?

  1. I am loving all your picks! A lady I babysit for is an artist and she has painted me some pieces before and I love having those special pieces that I can take with me forever!
