Artful Accents

Fit in Picador // Claire Desjardins
There are a lack of home decor stores in Hawaii. It's rather unfortunate, but I guess that's what you get when you live on an island. Since we moved here, I've found that most of my fun money goes toward buying clothes and accessories. Don't get me wrong, my wardrobe is quite grateful and was in desperate need of my attention. However, that doesn't mean that I don't miss the occasional knick knack. When I receive a catalog from West Elm or Crate & Barrel, I end up throwing them away untouched. That's blasphemy, I'm aware! I just don't like to tease myself with furniture and tchotchkes that I can't have. All too often, I get my heart set on something, I go to checkout, and there's a message that states they can't ship to Hawaii. If that's not the case, the shipping cost is horrendous and ends up being MORE than the piece itself. When I obsess about something, it becomes unhealthy and I get depressed. I've vowed to not toy with my emotions like this anymore. It's just not nice! Instead, I've decided to pin household items in hopes of having my favorite home-decor resources at my fingertips (someday). And yes, I realize this rant can and should be categorized under first-world problems.

My latest home decor round-up is inspired by this Claire Desjardins print available on One Kings Lane. It left me breathless! The color-rich painting includes all of my favorite hues. Isn't it exuberant? I'd say that an abstract beauty like Fit in Picador is deserving of some darling decor. Enjoy!
